A number of scientists answer questions about cells. They begin with a definition of a cell as the unit of life, then explain some of the history of the discovery of the cell by van Leeuwenhoek. Includes a discussion of cell functions such as regeneration, movement and growth. Images and video are used to show the diversity of cells.

Students could use this as an introduction to the topic of cells. This clip opens with two questions, 'What are cells?' and 'What do cells do?'. It therefore lends itself very nicely to reviewing these questions at the end, following the explanations of the scientists in the clip.
