We meet two primary school pupils, Kathi and Nils, and watch them take part in their school's sports day. Various events take place and the children are told their places. At the end, we hear what grades they think they will be awarded in PE as a result of their sports day performance. Commentary in German and English.

Students could compare a sports day in Britain to a sports day in Germany as portrayed in the clip. What is the same? What is different?

Students could listen for the sports activities which are introduced in the captions, repeat them and match them to English words provided on cards. Students could discuss their favourite or least favourite sports activity using the phrases 'ich mag ...' and 'ich mag .... nicht'.

Students could play the role of sports commentator, describing what they see on the screen.

This clip could also be used to spark creative writing: students could write a short email in German to Lars or Kathi telling them about their own sports day and what activities they do.
