Sedimentary rocks are described as small pieces of rock and animal remains that are weathered, swept downstream and then settle on the seabed. This sediment builds upon in horizontal layers and pressure from above cements the minerals together to turn them into rock. The formation of fossils is described and examples are seen. Sandstone, limestone and conglomerate are given as examples of sedimentary rock.
This clip could be used in a discussion with students on how sedimentary rock is formed and how fossils are preserved.
