After great success at the Battle of Stirling Bridge, William Wallace's army once again faces the English. This time, Wallace's men suffer a bloody defeat at the Battle of Falkirk. Scotland is broken, it loses the support of France and Wallace resigns as Guardian. These were dark times for Scotland and its people.
This clip could be used as one half of a comparison between the Battle of Falkirk and the Battle of Stirling Bridge. Students may want to theorise as to why the outcomes were so different.
