How 10p can be made from a mixture of other coins using addition. A cartoon character doesn't have a 10p coin, but does have a mixture of other coins. The characters show how these denominations can be added up to make the 10p required. There is also an opportunity to solve money problems involving counting and adding to ten using money.

Before showing the clip, tell the children that they are going to learn about a shop where everything is 10p. What kinds of things might be for sale in this shop? Watch the clip and then tell the children that their job is to make a poster for the shop. They should display items for sale and pictures of the coins that would be needed to buy each item eg a picture of a pencil and two 5p coins or a picture of a dice and 5p, 2p, 2p and 1p coins.
