A rat named Jacques lives in the city and is missing the love of his life, Lucille, who lives in the countryside. So Jacques decides to visit her. But when he gets there the countryside isn't what he expected, so they both go back to the city. However, things don't run as smoothly as expected for them and Lucille ends up being caught by a cat. So they decide to compromise and move. This fable is also known as 'The Town Mouse and the Country Mouse'.
The class could discuss and compare the differences between town life and countryside life before watching the clip. The class can learn the phrase ‘I like…’ and ‘I dislike…’. The teacher could pause where necessary and ask pupils what they have in the town or in the countryside. Pupils could learn new sentences like ‘I don’t like noise’, ‘I like clean’ and so on. The clip could also be used to teach different buildings' names. The teacher could introduce the buildings' names first then play the clip and pause to ask students where they are.
