Using a large number line on the floor with clearly labelled positive and negative numbers, Lego men or alternative toy figures could be used to model the movement along a number scale. A counting stick can also be used to help with number sequences which go up or down. Children could be challenged to order numbers along the number line. Another fun activity is for the pupils to do frog jumps in ones, forwards and backwards over a rope that represents zero.
