Bill shows Bernie how to do laundry at a laundrette, including buying a cup of laundry powder for 10p. Bernie doesn't have a 10p coin but does have a pound coin. Bernie ends up with 10 cups of washing powder and makes the mistake of trying to use them all at once.
Pupils could work in groups or pairs to set up their own spoof shops displaying the costs of various goods or providing services. They could each write some problem-solving questions based on their shop before solving other groups' problems. This clip could be used to model the style of problem questions which have more than one step. Using supermarket flyers and catalogues, pupils could be asked to use pretend amounts of money to decide what they could buy and how much change they would receive.
