A narration by a primary age girl who describes washing in a special way before visiting the mosque. She talks about the importance of removing shoes, facing East and praying.

First broadcast:
29 April 1997

After watching the clip, discuss how we know that the girl is a Muslim. What did she do that is part of her faith? On a piece of paper the children should draw two pictures of the girl doing something that is part of a Muslim's way of life. This may include washing her feet and hands before going to the mosque, removing her shoes at the entrance, covering her head with a head scarf, children and women praying separate from the men, facing Mecca (also known as Makkah). To extend this work, the children could write underneath each picture why Muslims choose to do these actions.
