We help Rodd practice writing the letters of three vowel sounds in the air ‘a’ for apple, ‘i’ for insect and ‘e’ for elephant. Then we join in with the ‘Sticky Letters’ game: throwing balls at the letter that makes a particular sound.
The teacher should read out the dialogue written during the sketch as though talking to Rodd. This clip would benefit from discussion on the phonetic sounds of the letters 'a', 'i' and 'e' prior to viewing. Play the game with Rodd’s letters and encourage the children to join in. Practise recognising the phonetic sounds on objects within the classroom.
