Batteries come in many different shapes and sizes and we use them to make many different appliances work. Batteries can be put together to provide more power. Tiny batteries are used for watches, while bigger batteries are used for remote controllers, toys, fairy lights and torches.
Can be used to demonstrate to children the range of batteries that are used in everyday life. The children could list the range of items that use batteries and then research others from their own experience or from the internet. Could also be used as an open ended investigation in which the teacher could give the children a selection of batteries and objects that the batteries fit into, muddle them up and ask the children to investigate which batteries fit and are the most appropriate for the items.
