Food is the main energy supply for growth, movement and repairing the body. From birth, living things start growing, gaining weight and changing. Babies must move on from soft food to solid food. Their teeth are already positioned under the gum waiting to emerge when they are just six months old.
This clip could be used to introduce activities based on the food groups, through classifying foods by how our bodies use them. Pupils could then be challenged to create examples of balanced meals. When studying teeth, it may be used to begin a discussion on why we have different types of teeth and how other animals teeth are adapted to their diets.
