A little boy, Anshu, wonders what happens when his Dad switches his bedroom light off at night. Anshu explores his bedroom as his eyes become accustomed to the dark, noticing the different light sources from inside his room, his house and outside his house.

Can be used when learning about light and darkness. You could show the clip and then ask the children to make a note of all light sources introduced. Which of them are natural? Which of them are artificial light sources? Which of them are reflections? If possible bring in some light reflectors, eg the ones used on bikes to demonstrate how they reflect the light. After that you could have a look at the Moon and the lunar phases. Maybe invite the children to work in pairs of three, one being the Sun (with a light source), one holding a ball representing the Moon and one holding a ball representing Earth. Invite them explore how the reflection on the Moon changes as the Moon orbits Earth and Earth orbits the Sun.
