Two boys play truant from school. They meet another truant who they do not know. He persuades them to steal from a local shop. 20% of youth crime in Glasgow happens during school hours. The boys cycle off and throw their litter on the road. The narrator points out that, in some areas, parents can be fined £50 if their children are caught dropping litter.
The pupils could be asked to discuss Craig’s character and why they feel he has gone along with the other two boys. In groups of three the pupils could act out the various scenarios but come up with strategies to avoid doing wrong. The pupils could then act out the scenarios again trying out alternative strategies. The pupils might then be asked to speculate about what will happen next.
