Use as an introduction to an investigation. Pause the clip at 1 minute 18 seconds and ask the students to predict what will pass through the ice first. After the students have seen the results, encourage the students to identify the elements of a fair test, the dependent and independent variables and see if they can design a similar experiment to compare other materials.
