It's Buki's birthday and she has invited her friends to celebrate on one of the hills in Rome. They're all dressed in togas, like ancient Romans, and after the birthday greetings Buki finds out what her presents are. They also beat down the Pignatta, which is full of sweets and trinkets. Then it's time to eat, and bring on the birthday cake. Spoken in Italian with Italian graphics. Narration in English.

Students could be given one or two cards displaying the items that will be mentioned in the clip. While watching the clip the students could raise their card in the air when ‘their’ item is mentioned. Students could then be asked to talk about the differences and similarities between their own birthday celebrations and those of the Italian students.
Students could be asked to produce a list of items they would like to have at their birthday party or to receive as a present. They could also describe things that they would not like. Role-play could be an option in developing these language elements.
