The Ming Emperors found a superb site for their burial ground amongst green hills just north of Beijing. Leading up to the site is 'The Spirit Way', lined on each side by magnificent statues of soldiers and animals standing guard over the tombs. This could be used to learn how to ask directions in Chinese. Ask students to find out what other tombs are there and give each other directions to different tombs.
It is also useful to introduce the historical background of the Chinese emperors. Students can match the different tombs with the emperors.
