Praxis the robot and Alan the "human man" trace the development of numbers. They look at stone age tally marks on the Ishango bone, find out about when numbers became separated from the objects they describe in ancient Sumeria and look at the pros and cons of competing number systems, including the Hindu-Arabic numbers we use today.
