Could be used as an introduction to the topic of plants. Ask pupils what they already understand about what a plant needs to grow, sustain life and make their own food. Pause at each phase during the time-lapse sequence. Follow this up with investigations into what conditions plants need to grow and generate questions like: do they always need soil to grow? Carry out a survey of all the plants growing in the school grounds or vegetable garden and in their own gardens at home. Pupils could conduct an analysis of different types of seeds and plant a class herb garden. If possible, set up a time-lapse camera to track plant growth and record findings.
