An illustrated explanation of the hydrological cycle, introducing key terms.
Can be used during a module on rivers. Students should make a list of the flows and storage within the water cycle. Words used could include: precipitation, interception, evaporation, surface run-off, infiltration, throughflow, percolation, groundwater flow, lakes, lochs and marshes. Students could then be challenged to suggest ways in which the water cycle could be changed by human actions.
