This animated story tells the tale of Marie Jones and her faith.
Marie Jones lived in a small stone cottage in the Welsh countryside. She worshiped at the village chapel and heard stories read from the Bible. Marie longed for a bible of her own and, after saving up for six years, walked 25 miles to buy one.
Useful as an example of faith devotion. Discuss pupils' response to Marie's actions and determination. Have they ever done something like that to get what they really wanted? What would they be prepared to do or give up to achieve an important goal in their lives? How would they feel afterwards? Children could then discuss what might have happened to Marie Jones after she got her Bible. Does religion influence the way people live? If so, how?
