An extract from a comedy drama named 'Teaching Matthew' in which teenager Matthew disagrees with his brother about the value of education and exams. Older brother Lester tries to physically force Matthew to sit an exam. Matthew is worried about competing with his brother's educational success. Lester explains that it's not a competition, and that education gives choice, not takes it away. Matthew sits the exam.
After watching the clip, give pupils other scenarios where they have to do things to make a difference to their future which they might not want to do. Ask them to 'speed date' by giving them two minutes with each person in the group to discuss the scenarios.
