A revision summary of the themes of 'The Great Gatsby'.

This clip is from:
Bitesize Clips

This clip can be used to explore the key themes in the text - the American dream, loss of moral values, social class. Students could be assigned with a research task of finding and documenting references and quotes from the novel that relate to these themes (and others they might find). Marking their findings on a sheet of paper, and using print and web sources (historical analysis of the ‘boom’ era/ Fitzgerald’s personal biography), students could compile a summary or mind-map of F. Scott Fitzgerald’s own beliefs about these key concepts and use this mind-map to write a short summary on the themes in the novel.
