Ratiohead have just won a competition but not everyone is happy with their cut of the winnings. Carl’s method of sharing sounds a bit out of tune to Abbey and Betty. This video dealt with the more straightforward question of sharing in a given ratio or finding the original amount. Consider changing the context of the question from money to other measures, eg litres for mixing different shades of paint or kilograms for metal alloys. To set more of a challenge the ratio could be given as fractions, eg 1:½:¼ which then need to be changed into whole numbers by multiplying by 4 to get 4:2:1 before doing the sharing.
