The gender of nouns and their articles in French is explained. First the masculine and feminine articles, both definite and indefinite are introduced, followed by the article that precedes singular words that begin with vowels or the silent “h”. The plural definite article is shown too and we are shown how to make nouns plural that end in a vowel.

A class could compile a summative class dictionary of the groups of topic-nouns that have been covered throughout the year. Groups could research topics such as the town or pets and liste the nouns with their articles. A class project could be to compile an illustrated dictionary that could be used by future classes in that particular year group.
