A group of Spanish children play Abuelito, ¿qué hora es?, a Spanish playground game similar to Granny’s footsteps. They count in Spanish using numbers 1-10 as they play taking footsteps in the style of different animals.
Students could play this game to consolidate their use of numbers and animals in Spanish. Students could discuss the verbs needed to write a set of instructions for this game such as jump, throw, hop and so on. Students could create a word bank of these verbs and use it to write their own set of instructions. Students could also research other Spanish counting games and teach these to their friends or fellows students.
