Paul Taylor, a creationist, provides his interpretation of what is written about creation in the Book of Genesis. He provides his thoughts on the age of the universe, the fossil record and what a group of eminent scientists believe in. He talks about Christian fideism and why faith does not need evidence or reason. He asserts that his faith is evidence.
Pupils could draw around their hand and then in each finger and thumb they could write what was created in the first five days and the day six creation being written into the palm of the hand. Using the idea of 'prior belief' as authority, students could be asked to rate on a scale of 1-5 how trustworthy they believe certain sources of authority to be eg teachers, parents, police, MPs, newspapers, news broadcasts. After discussion of the results students could then say how far Paul Taylor's views seem reasonable.
