An exploration of the Sun's physical appearance and its position in the solar system. It is very important to humans on Earth.

The clip could be used at the start of the lesson to get children thinking about the movement of Earth relative to the Sun. It could also be used to help explain why we have day and night. Children could use torches or lamps to represent the Sun, and footballs to represent Earth and “orbit” the footballs around the “Sun”, whilst mimicking the rotation of Earth as they orbit. This would help children to visualise why we have day and night and could be a way in to looking at different climates and seasons.
