Is your child suffering with sleep problems? Sleep consultant Mandy Gurney has some tips and techniques for you to try, so your little one gets a good night's sleep before a busy day at school!

Mandy's tips

• A good bedtime routine can help most sleep problems.

• Use the ‘gradual retreat’ method to help children settle back in to their own bed. Sit nearby as they go to sleep. In the coming nights, sit further away.

• Offer your child comfort and reassurance if they wake with a nightmare. Discuss nightmares during the day. Also, make sure your child is getting enough sleep.

• Use a lamp and a rewards system to help children stay in bed in the morning.
