Everything you need to know about BBC Three and where to find us

Has BBC Three closed?

No. We’ve moved to the interwebz. PJDN's Chabuddy G explains...

Why?

Because it’s where young people like you are, like now, and where we can give you amazing content when you want on the device you choose.

Will BBC Three continue to make shows?

Yes. In fact we have so many great new shows we even won Channel of the Year at the RTS Awards! We will continue to make original British drama like Thirteen and Clique, original British comedy like People Just Do Nothing, Fleabag, This Country, Cuckoo and Murder In Succesville, Documentaries like Life And Death Row, Stacey Dooley Investigates, Reggie Yates' In a Texan Jail and Unsolved, and we'll continue to make provocative current affairs programmes like Is This Rape? Sex on Trial and KKK: The Fight For White Supremacy. Nothing changes.

What’s new?

Along with our award winning TV shows like Extreme Russia, People Just Do Nothing, Murdered By My Father and Fleabag we’re making lots of new stuff as well including short films, quizzes and long reads about issues that matter to you. We will also have our very own take on the day’s news and sport available throughout the day.

Where can I get BBC Three?

Where can you not get BBC Three?!  Our new platform www.bbc.co.uk/bbcthree will have all our TV shows and brand new stuff for you to explore. All our shows will be available through BBC Three on iPlayer on your smart TV, on your phone, on your laptop, through your Sky Box or YouView or whichever box you have, through a Google Chromecast or Amazon Fire dongle, love that word, through Apple TV, through your Playstation or Xbox or through BBC Red Button+. We will also be on YouTube, Facebook, Tumblr, Twitter and Snapchat, and all our BBC Three originals will be on BBC One and BBC Two. I think that’s what you call a full house.

What are you doing for new talent?

What are we not doing?! It’s what we do, what we’ve always done and what we’ll do even more of. We will have more original British shows to discover the next Phoebe Waller-Bridge, James Corden or Stacey Dooley. We will give opportunities for people who make new types of stuff and we will be partnering with lots of new suppliers who don’t make TV. And we just had Idris Elba making a series of dramas for us with new writers and new on screen talent.

What are you doing to make sure the BBC gives young people more?

By moving BBC Three online we are transforming what the BBC does for you. It’s increasingly clear online is where young people like you choose to be. With this move we are doing more than ever, where young people are, for young people.

If the budget has been cut doesn’t that mean there will be less?

We’ve been clever with our budget and are spending it on what you told us you wanted. You wanted British comedy, documentaries and drama. You wanted to be heard and given a voice. We have focussed what we spend on what you told us you wanted which means we’ve made big savings elsewhere. ITV bought Family Guy, we won’t have repeats, and we won’t make shows like Snog Marry Avoid or Sweat The Small Stuff. This means we will have more original British comedy, more contemporary British drama and more factual shows and documentaries.

How do I find out what you are doing?

We will be in Heat, Metro, Sun TV Mag, on Digital Spy and everywhere else you see TV written about as well as being all over social media. Plus you can find out what’s coming up here.

What times will shows be available?

They will be available when you want on the day we make them available from www.bbc.co.uk/bbcthree and BBC Three on iPlayer. All our originals will be on BBC One and BBC Two at a later date.

How long will stuff be available for?

All our shows will premiere online on www.bbc.co.uk/bbcthree and BBC Three on iPlayer and be available for at least 30 days. Some of the stuff we make for YouTube and social media will be up there forever or until YouTube disappears.

I don't have broadband - how can I get BBC Three?

You can watch on TV. All our BBC Three originals will be on BBC One or BBC Two soon after they are available from www.bbc.co.uk/bbcthree

When will shows be on BBC One and BBC Two?

We will work with BBC One and BBC Two to find the best place for our shows. Comedies like Josh and Asian Provocateur are already doing really well after Graham Norton on Friday nights. Reggie’s docs like Extreme Russia have done really well after the 10 O’clock news on BBC One.

What's happening to Family Guy and American Dad?

ITV coughed up the dollar and made it rain for Seth Macfarlane when they bought all his new and old shows like Family Guy, American Dad and E4’s The Cleveland Show from Fox. We’re all about the best original British content@BBCThree

What’s happening to Don’t Tell The Bride and Snog Marry Avoid and Sweat The Small Stuff?

DTTB was picked up by Sky1. We loved Snog Marry Avoid but we said goodbye a long time ago and there are enough comedy panel shows on other channels. We’re all about distinctive British shows, breaking new British talent and did I say new, new things.

Where can I watch EastEnders?

EastEnders premieres on BBC One and is available for you when you want on BBC iPlayer.

What's happening to BBC Three's music coverage?

BBC Four, Radio 2, BBC Two, Radio 1, and BBC Red Button will have music programming and festival coverage.

Will I get a discount on my TV licence?

No. You will still have BBC Three and all the other great stuff the BBC does like Sherlock, Luther, MOTD, EastEnders, Five Live and www.bbc.co.uk/bbcthree

I’ve clicked on a video and it has ads. I thought the BBC didn’t have ads?

We don’t. But to show you the best of the web we might embed stuff from YouTube and social media. Something might slip through. Email us bbcthreewebfeedback@bbc.co.uk if you notice something and we will sort it.
