Henry Moore - One Yorkshireman Looks at His World

The third of six profiles of Henry Moore made by producer John Read features a trip to Castleford, Moore's home town, and explores the surrounding landscape that influenced much of his work. Moore himself provides thoughts and comments throughout the programme, which also revisits the earlier documentaries made by Read.

In the 1940s, Henry Moore was approached frequently by BBC radio producers to take part in programmes (including one occasion in 1944 when he was asked to talk about "the coal situation"). However, he usually found a reason to turn down these requests, citing pressure of work and a reluctance to be heard by friends and critics.
