Safety: loading a crew car

BBC safety expert Stephen Gregory gives us a guide to loading your kit safely into your car.

BBC safety expert Stephen Gregory advises that you select the vehicle best suited to the amount of kit you have, and, if possible, park it in a place that is easily accessible.

"The size of the car you need will depend on the amount of kit you've got." – Stephen Gregory

If you can't do this, use a trolley to avoid unnecessary lifting. When loading the car, follow the usual safe lifting techniques: bend your legs, not your back, and keep your head straight.

Also, think carefully about what you will need, and when, during your day of filming. This will determine the best way to arrange your kit.
