
Louise Thornton, Head of Multiplatform Commissioning
Responsible for: BBC Scotland’s TV, Radio and Digital commissioning
Louise is the head of the commissioning team for BBC Scotland, responsible for devising and delivering a commissioning strategy to create great content across radio, tv, online and social for all audiences in Scotland.
She has worked with the BBC since 2002 and has a background in multiplatform production, ranging from linear television programmes to interactive games and short form viral content. Louise has a strong track record in public service broadcasting, working as an editorial lead in Online, Knowledge and Learning for several years and she is one of the founders of the award winning talent development platform BBC The Social.
Louise was previously Digital and Youth Commissioner, responsible for commissioning a variety of content across BBC Scotland’s platforms, building a reputation for developing new talent, attracting a younger audience and growing digital. She has numerous television and digital credits across the genres to her name includingBlack and Scottish, Being Gail Porter and The Farm and she has been responsible for building strong collaborative ties with key network contacts in BBC Three and BBC Sounds to deliver greater impact for BBC Scotland’s audiences.
Geraldine McCartney, Head of Business
Responsible for the financial and business management of multiplatform commissioning
Geraldine is responsible for leading the financial and business aspect of the multiplatform commissioning team, encompassing the introduction of a multiplatform commissioning process and the business management of BBC Scotland’s new channel.
A qualified accountant, Geraldine has extensive experience within the media sector and was previously responsible for the overall management of BBC Scotland’s financial position, as well as working across BBC Scotland within commissioning, production and on a number of pan BBC projects.
