Peter also plays piano and is currently working towards Grade 8.

Final Thoughts

How did you feel when you heard you had reached the final?
Really happy, couldn't believe it, excited.

How did your family react?
Over the moon - very proud , I think.

How did your music teacher/school react?
My music teacher shouted 'Yee haa ' over the phone to my mum.

How much time have you been playing to be ready for the final and how does this compare with your normal playing?
I've been doing the same as usual, but thinking more about what I am doing.

What would you like to do in the short and long term with your music?
I want to be a soloist so this is a fantastic platform to start from.

Do you have musical inspirations eg composers or players or friends?
I really admire Joe Alessi.

What would you do with the prize money?
It's a great sum of money and I'm having a think.

Do you think young people enjoy classical music as much as they could?
I think too many people close their mind to classical music straight away without even listening to it.

Do you have siblings?
Yes, a brother and sister of eighteen who are twins.

Are any of them musical?
My brother is studying trumpet at the RNCM and my sister is going to Manchester university to study music in September. They also both play in brass bands. It's because of them that I wanted to play an instrument.

Are your parents or any other family members musical?
My parents were both professional french horn players with the Ulster Orchestra.

What are your other main passions in life (acting, film, etc)?
I like to think I'm half a magician!!! Only joking, but I do like messing around with tricks! I'm keen on sport, especially tennis and football.
