BBC Young Musician of the Year 2006 - For keyboard, percussion, string, brass and woodwind players aged 18 and under on 1 January 2006.

Following four rounds of strong competition five finalists were chosen, one from each instrument class, to perform a concerto with the Northern Sinfonia at The Sage, Gateshead on 20 May 2006 under conductor Yan Pascal Tortelier.


After a superb concert with five excellent performances Clarinettist Mark Simpson is announced as BBC Young Musician of the Year 2006.
