This is where I grew up and I was 5 years old when WW2 started. I was a boarder in St.Gilda`s Convent, Chard and came home for holidays.

My brothers both went to Ilminster Grammar School, then later to work as tool-makers at Westland Aircraft, Yeovil - making Spitfires.

My mother and father both ran this country inn until 1949.

Jean Kidd.
