I'm Paul Cheall, son of Bill Cheall. My Dad, now deceased, wrote his WW2 memoirs whilst still alive. His story is the true story of an ordinary soldier in the Green Howards during the Second World War. The story includes, amongst others, his experiences at Dunkirk, D-Day, a voyage on the Queen Mary and being wounded in action.

The contribution to the site is just one chapter out of his book - about D-Day.

The book has been posted on the web but the current link on the Greenhowards site is dead and no-one seems to be running the site. Formal book publication has been attempted in the past without success, though there are copies of the book in the Green Howards museum at Richmond, Yorkshire, and in the Imperial War Museum.
