Hi,
I am working on this project as part of my volunteer placement. I enjoy meeting and talking to people and love to hear stories particularly of human interest.
This is such a worthwhile exercise as a valuable archive will be left for future generations.
So far I have visited Ballyclare British Legion and talked to some people there about their experiences and hope to post their stories soon.
I have also talked to some people thanks to John Mc Cann whose book 'Passing Through' will be launched in May and talks about the war from the perspective of the GI's who were posted here.I believe there may even be some of these GI's coming over and a memorial will be unveiled in Portglenone Forest on Sunday May 8th.
Please contact me if you have anything at all that would give others an idea of what it was like to live through the war years...to know how it felt to live through such an historic and traumatic time.
Thanks.
Fiona
