Scotland Writes

BBC Scotland is proud to present Scotland Writes, a year long initiative to develop, inspire and celebrate writing in Scotland.

BBC Scotland will provide writers at all levels the opportunity to engage with and learn from some of the industry's most respected writers through a series of nationwide events, including masterclasses, BBC Writersroom roadshows, and open days with BBC development staff.

Scotland Writes will launch at the Edinburgh Film Festival in June 2009 with a Q&A hosted by Kate Rowland, Creative Director of New Writing at the BBC.  Kate will be joined by a panel of industry professionals and some of Scotland's most prestigious film and television writers including the Bafta award winning Annie Griffin (New Town, Festival, The Book Group), Gregory Burke (Black Watch, Hoors), and Ann McManus, who is the co-founder of Shed Media, the production company behind Footballers' Wives, Bad Girls, and Waterloo Road.
