The 24 Hour Plays: Old Vic New Voices

If you're aged between 18 and 25 and want to launch yourself into the world of professional theatre, then the Old Vic wants to hear from you.

Following rigorous auditions and workshops, successful applicants will have just 24 hours to prove their talent by creating engaging, edgy theatre for the Old Vic stage. The results will be seen by 1,000 industry professionals, family, and friends.

How it works
The final company of 51 (Made up of 30 actors, seven writers, seven producers and seven directors) create seven brand new plays in just 24 hours.

Saturday evening/early morning
10:00pm: All 51 arrive at The Old Vic for introductions and drinks
11:00pm: The seven playwrights are whisked away to a secret location along with three of the producers
11:30pm to 6:00am: Seven brand new plays are written, playwrights go to bed for a couple of hours

Sunday morning
6:00am to 7:00am: All seven scripts are delivered and photocopied
7:30am: Directors arrive and scripts are allocated by the producers
8:30am: Actors arrive and are allocated parts, a director, a producer, and rehearsal space
9:30am to 6:30pm: Plays are rehearsed and teched
7:00pm: House opens...
