In Newcastle, BBC writersroom north collaborates with Live Theatre, who are committed to the development of new writing in the North East.

Live Theatre offers support to writers in the region through events, courses, workshops, and a script feedback service.

Short Cuts allows writers to upload their work to the website to be read and reviewed by other writers in the region as well as by other visitors to Live's website.

Courses

The new writing department at Live Theatre regularly run courses and workshops for people interested in writing scripts. If you would like to be kept informed about forthcoming courses please email the theatre to be put on their mailing list.

New Writing North

New Writing North is the writing development agency for the North East of England. They aim to create an environment in which new writing in all forms can flourish and develop. They are a unique organisation within the UK, merging individual development work with educational work and the production of creative projects. They work with writers to develop career opportunities, new commissions, projects, residencies, publications, and live events.

Northern Film and Media

Northern Film and Media is the Regional Screen Agency for the North East of England.

BBC writersroom collaborates with Northern Film and Media on 'North East Voices', a training and development opportunity for regional writers who want to write for television. One of the trainees from the first year of this scheme, Karen Laws, gained a place on the BBC Drama Writers Academy.
