West Yorkshire Playhous's writer development program is now open for applications. So You Want To Be A Writer? 2008 is aimed at writers of any age with little or no experience of formal training or production. Consisting of a series of five workshops where writers are encouraged to explore and develop their talent, So You Want To Be A Writer? will be mentored for the sixth year running by Leeds-born playwright Mark Catley, who along with his work in the theatre is currently the lead writer on Casualty.

Writers developedthrough So You Want To Be A Writer? who have gone on to be produced include Jodie Marshall (Non-Contact Time, Tender Dearly), Eamon Rooney (Gluey and the Lion) and Alice Nutter (Foxes).
