Audiences are the stars of Sanglap

A new print advertising campaign for the BBC’s Bangla political debate show, Bangladesh Sanglap (Dialogue) has launched with an inspirational message: “Take part, no matter where you are!”

The ads also show info on how to tune in and join the dialogue

Aimed at building on the shows seven million weekly listeners and viewers, the ads focus on five different scenes of Bangladeshi daily life to demonstrate how easy it is to take part and stay right at the centre of what's happening.

Bangladesh Sanglap launched four years ago and was the first programme in the country which enabled citizens to quiz their politicians on TV and radio. Eighty-six per cent of the audience believe the programme has improved political debate in Bangladesh.

Sabir Mustafa, Head of BBC Bangla said: “It is audiences that are the real stars of Bangladesh Sanglap. This is the programme where ordinary folks can debate directly with policy-makers, and have their say. What we are saying here is this is a programme for everyone, whether you’re watching on TV or listening on the radio, and we encourage you all to apply to join the studio audience.”

Umama Nowroze Ittela, Head of Marketing and Communications of BBC World Service Trust, Bangladesh said:

“We wanted to capture the unique experience of the programme. The creative approach does this well by focusing on the everyday lives of people to show that no matter who you are this is both relevant and a great shared way of being at the centre of today’s issues.”
