In August 2006, we began working with the Angolan Ministry of Youth and Sports, UNICEF and Radio Nacional Angola (RNA) to produce and broadcast ‘Teste Viju', a radio quiz show designed to raise awareness of HIV and AIDS among 15-24 year olds.
The quiz show put young people's knowledge of HIV and AIDS to the test, posing questions that they had to answer correctly in order to progress further.
I learned a lesson from ‘Teste Viju': life doesn't end when you get HIV and that we shouldn't discriminate against people living with HIV.

Questions included True/False statements such as: "You can catch HIV if you use the same toilet as someone that is HIV positive" and "If a woman is HIV positive, then she can't have children".
Incentives for audience participation included local publicity, the competitive nature of the programme and prizes for correct answers.

Reach
By August 2007, 90 episodes of the quiz had been broadcast nationwide by RNA and 20 RNA provincial radio stations.
Training
We also carried out an extensive training programme with radio producers and DJs across Angola, designed to help them produce the quiz show on their stations and include HIV and AIDS messages in their programming and music sets. More
The quiz continued to be broadcast live from special events throughout the country, including the Afrobasket Tournament 2007.
