The project is being developed in collaboration with the UN Economic Commission for Africa*, which is assisting in engaging African partners.

The research activities which form the foundation for the project are being carried out through collaboration with the Ahmadu Bello University (Nigeria),the School of Journalism at Rhodes University (South Africa) and a network of 17 African researchers.

With initial funding for the work being provided by the UK Department for International Development (DFID)*, additional support has come from the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation*, International Finance Corporation (World Bank)* and Irish Aid*.

Other donor and private sector investors are currently being approached with the aim of creating a strong platform for engaging with donors and investors in the media sector.
