Women's Hour Presenter, Zarghuna
Women's Hour Presenter, Zarghuna
This brand new programme is a joint project between the World Service Trust and the Afghan Stream of World Service Radio.

Afghan Woman's Hour celebrates the role of women in Afghan society. The programme aims to inform and entertain women of all ages and socioeconomic backgrounds. We have regular slots on women's health, education and working lives….together with items on cooking, nutrition, literature and music.

The programme offers lively debate, new ideas and solutions women can use to enable themselves and others. Afghan Woman's Hour has reports from all over Afghanistan and from the Afghan refugee communities in Pakistan and Iran.

This weekly show is broadcast in Dari and Pashto, and is repeated on different days and at different times, to allow as many women as possible to listen. Zarghuna Kargar is the presenter and producer in London. Malalai Shinwari is the programme's reporter based in Kabul.

It is available on FM frequencies on the Afghan stream and you can listen online at :

This project is funded by the Global Conflict Prevention Pool (FCO and Dfid) of the British government.
