Working to a Regional Director, the Projects Manager is responsible for managing and generating specific BBC World Service Trust projects of activity in Africa, to help deliver regional strategy.
The Projects Manager manages a portfolio of complex, high profile projects often operating under difficult circumstances. All projects are entirely externally funded and the post holder will have responsibility for managing a series of relationships with project partners (often national broadcasters, NGOs or foreign government ministries) and international donors. They will generally have substantial autonomy (under the guidance of the relevant Regional Director) to make decisions regarding these projects and to ensure that they deliver the required outcomes on time and to budget. They will have direct responsibility for staff, based in London and in country and will often manage ad-hoc projects teams to ensure that a piece of work is completed.
