Since its creation, the BBC World Service Trust has received a number of awards. They are: 2005
- New Home, New Life Episode 1648 won a prize for Radio Programming and Promotion at the BBC World Service Trust Afghan Education Projects Awards
2004
- Radio spots from the Trust's HIV/Aids awareness campaign in India won a Bronze Award in the Public Service Category of the Mirchi Kaan Awards in Mumbai on 23 April.
- The Public Service Messages (PSAs) on HIV/AIDS won an award for Best Public Service Shorts at the Indian Telly Awards.
- The Incomplete Carpet won an award for Best Children/ Young Adult programme in the category of Radio Programming and Promotion at the BBC World Service Trust Afghan Education Projects Awards.
- The Brazilian series Rights At Work came first in the Ayrton Senna Radio Award.
- Kimasomasa was awarded the Silver World Medal at the New York Festivals.
- Story Story: Voices From The Market won Best Radio Script and Best Radio Drama at the NBC Awards.
- 2015 - Where Will We Be picked up first prize at China's national radio and television awards for radio debate on HIV/Aids.
2003
- JASOOS VIJAY won the THRILLER PROGRAMME OF THE YEAR Award at the Indian Telly Awards on Fri 21st November in Mumbai.
- The youth programme “Haath se Haath Milaa”, which is part of the Trust’s HIV/Aids awareness campaign in India, has won the Commonwealth Broadcasting Association’s award for Outstanding Local Children’s Programming.
- The Trust has been awarded the Big Tick for Excellence - an International Award from The Business in the Community. This highly prestigious award is given to organisations that demonstrate the positive impact of their work on society through community programmes and business practices. It was awarded to the Trust in recognition of its post-war Afghanistan media reconstruction and educational projects.
- African Productions won a silver medal at the New York Radio Awards for its series on Mental Health, part of the Trust's Mindwise project. Provision and attitudes towards it, was entered in the Health/Medical category.
- The Russian Service won a Bronze Worldmedal at the New York Intenational radio Festival for its series of programmes on Mental Health ("The Nameless Ward"), part of the Trust's Mindwise project
- The HIV/Aids Media campaign in India was a finalist at the Oneworld Media awards.
- Digital Destinations, a multi media project developed by the Trust, received the NetMedia EOJ Award for Technology in Barcelona. The project brought together a series of BBC World Service radio programmes; BBC online websites and various language sections.
2002
- The Trust’s "Afghan Lifelines" project won the Commonwealth Broadcasting Association’s award for Outstanding Local Children’s Programming. The programme, which was highly commended, assisted people in coping with immediate survival needs including shelter, first aid and staying healthy. Some of the programmes were aimed specifically at children.
2001
- The Trust won the International Radio Programming award for its "Audio Diaries" in Russia and the Ukraine at the New York Festivals.
Previous awards
- In 1998, at New York Festivals, the International radio programming award was won by the programme “Romanian Jingles: The Scriptwriter”.
- In 1997, the programmes "Third Sector" and "You and Your Money" won finalist awards at New York Festivals.
- In 1996, at New York Festivals, the programmes "ABC of Small Business" and "The Effective Manager: programme 5, Motivation" won finalist awards.
