Sha Xu Kang, Chinese Ambassador to the United Nations

Ambassador Sha Zukang
The US must "shut up" about China's military spending
Ambassador Sha has been a Chinese diplomat for over forty years. In that time he has seen enormous changes in his country. Starting as a young diplomat in London in 1970 whilst China was in the throws of the Cultural Revolution, he was fascinated by the extreme contrasts he was experiencing, at home and abroad.

Now the Chinese ambassador to the United Nations, he has a unique insight into the motivations and problems facing China today.

Forthright and passionate, he talks to Carrie Gracie about territorial integrity, empathy with the developing world, and why the United States has no right to attempt to influence China's arms policy...
