Adil Abdul Mahdi, Vice-President of Iraq

Adil Abdul Mahdi
I have full faith in one Iraq, a united Iraq.
Adil Abdul Mahdi has nearly become Iraq's prime minister a few times. He's now Vice President and, as he tells Lyse Doucet, he is happy to serve his country in whichever capacity his people democratically choose.

"I am not a coup d'etat man", he says. But if the Iraqi parliament calls on him, would he like to be Prime Minister?

He describes what keeps him going, having lost his own brother to Iraq's political violence.

He paints a picture of the Iraq he loves. And he explains why he still has faith in a united Iraq.
